Yet broadcasters seek to lock up this unused spectrum and in so doing, seek to limit innovation and consumer choice. The reason broadcasters are concerned about white space use by unlicensed users is legitimate. Those kinds of uses are typically disruptive to the nearby licensed frequencies. And for the New America Foundation to write off their concerns as an attempt to thwart innovation is typical overblown rhetoric by some group with an axe to grind.
