Re: Building 2 Dual Xeon Crunchers

Is this for Team Helix?

Anyways, I've haven't found anything either for that board for 20 minutes now

One thing I recommend to those dealing with Team Helix and going to spend atleast 500 dollars to crunch could always go with a Playstation 3 which would be more cost effective. However, I doubt you will reach that price mark.

edit: Just to add, been a while since I crunched anything so sorry if I confused anything seeing you have the SETI@Home icon.

you can get an used 20 gig for about 300 at an game store (Used)
it will also use less power (dual dual cores would use about 125 Watts each) once u add the other stuff it's over 400 watts

there for paying for it self ( it only uses 200watts)

Both machines will be for Team Helix, Possibly Seti@Home also if possible. one machine will also host a SFTP server as well.

I would like to keep each machine under $1000. Thats the budget that I have as of right now. but it will be one piece at a time build unfortunately
