So they're finally getting around to scheduling someone to come out. They're trying to schedule something:

[...] working on setting up a bridge between a field tech at your premises, a tech at the VSO, and a tech at the VHO to do some real-time testing to determine in real-time where the issues are occurring.
Gee, that's real helpful, guys. It's only taken, what, a month for any progress to be made?

Re: Philadelphia / Tiling on CN, TBS

Surprise, surprise, more tiling. It seems to be worse during the evening. Hoping that Gustavo gets back to me on scheduling an appointment soon - I'm only off on Mondays and I'm guessing that he'll reply sometime mid-week.

So, November 12th will probably be the earliest things will be looked at. Another week of crappy TV, here I come!

And to the fruitcake who decided to troll this thread: Bite me. I'm going to keep "whining" about service that doesn't work until they either fix it or waive the ETF - and I'd like to see what you're going to do about it. Thanks to the mod who took care of that particular post.

Noping, still here, still suffering along with you.

Everyday I see this mess, and something reminds me that this is the phone company,
and they really need to re-think their TV strategy, or re-consider if they should even be in the TV business at all.

Thanks to the mods for telling the trolls to STFU !!

Are you still dealing with Andy at the local WC garage?? I know Justin is on a special assignment out of state, and there is another manager over there named Jim,
maybe you have talked to him about it, I can IM you the contact info.

Gustavo is parked out in California, so he is really far away from the problem,
these local guys can start raising the roof, mad as hell, because they keep sending their techs out on "social calls", for problems that can't always be fixed locally.

Is your fiber drop overhead or underground??

I ask this because my setup is buried, and they just figured out that the underground vault that the tap is in fills up with water when it rains, and the water leaks into the tap.

Supposedly they are going to send a splicing crew out later this week to replace it with a newer version that is more water resistant than the current one is.

This is the same issue that was causing problems back in mid May, and it took them until July 3rd to fix it, err, uh, I mean put a band-aid on it until now.

Although the tech last week did clean the tap out again(the ports were full of mud), so maybe the next time it fills with water(or is frozen in a block of ice, under 2 feet of snow),
they will actually get the splicing crew out to fix it.

They keep trying to correct power failure problems, when the ONT is on, and the orange and red LED's blinking are it's way of screaming, "NO LIGHT !!, NO LIGHT !!"

Ya know what?? Enjoy your tiling picture.

Yeah, but your problems were (or still are) much worse, you were having problems with POTS at times. My problems with the TV service are minor compared to that.

I'm not dealing with anyone from the local WC garages at the moment. The only person I've talked to who works at The Phone Company is Gustavo through »/forum/vzdirect.

I have the telephone numbers of the managers you listed floating around somewhere, thanks for the offer though.

Mentioned this before, but when Gustavo tried to schedule a visit from a technician a few weeks ago - "dispatch" refused and I wasted half a day waiting for someone to show up.

The fiber is buried. I remember that they checked the underground vault a few months when they replaced everything up to the house - nothing significant. My gut feeling is that there's not an issue with the tap/underground vault - if there was, wouldn't I be experiencing more severe problems with the service like you have?

A little gentle ribbing, Jeep. More than anything I'm just surprised that someone who I'd seen as one of the elite here has been reduced to pushing Comcast in response to any problem reported in any thread. You on commission now?

My picture hasn't tiled since August.

Enjoy the ads that cut off the bottom two rows in the Comcast DVR program guide

OK JeepMatt, welcome to my backyard, Comcast is somewhere 350+ Feet in that direction.

My wallet don't hold enough cash to cover what Comcast wants to re-engineer their plant closer to my house.

They can't even find their own tap, let alone move it close enough for decent service.

One might stumble upon a Cablevision or Time Warner tap out there, before they would ever find a Comcast one.

When I had Comcast, I used to go days with no picture at all.

They are not an option.

Pixelation is less annoying than a blank screen.

I can appreciate some light humor, but this is still a PITA for alot of people that don't have the option that you do.

You went through all this crap, you know what it's like.

knarf sees your comment and cries Troll, and I don't blame him, please put the kidding aside.

Thank You...

Seriously, let's keep this thread on-topic.

There is a legitimate issue with Fios TV in the Philly area

No more Comcast comments that might get someone branded as a Troll.

This is frustrating enough already.

Still seeing minor issues out this way. I just don't have time to deal with Verizon.

I have two funny side notes as to why things will never get resolved. It has more to do with the average Joe than anything else.

1. A buddy of mine's VZ DVR stopped working. He waited over 3 weeks before calling the problem in.

2. My neighbor was having major internet issues and couldn't figure out why there was no guide data. Turns out she unplugged the router one day and forgot to plug it back in. Regarding the internet issues, she was connecting wirelessly to another's neighbor's connection and didn't even realize it. I was talking to her the other day and she mentioned that she finally got fed up and called Mac for support. They were able to figure out the problem because the tech knew the SSID was on the base of the modem. Miraculously her guide data started working again.

You average consumer/user just doesn't care. The VZ folks mistake their indifference with complacency.... if nobody else is complaining then it ain't broke. Unfortunately, the folks on BBR are in the minority of their technical user base.

It also has to do with something that JeepMatt touched on earlier in the thread: They just don't give a rat's ass about the customer. My trouble ticket's been open since the first week of October and it's still unresolved.

It's a shame that Verizon's billing department doesn't have the ability to check the tickets issued in the technical department - I'm going to have to explain this entire debacle from the beginning when I call in tomorrow. It would be so much easier if I could simply read off a ticket number and let the representative see for him or herself what's going on.

It's been nearly a week since Gustavo's last update. My best guess is that the idea of setting up a "bridge" between a technician at the home, a technician at the VSO and a technician at the VHO is dead in the water.
