Replacing equipment at a cost of even 1 dollar to save $0.01 per month in power consumption doesn't make sence. Additionally, you would just be adding your old modem to a landfill.

agreed. that is stupid. but don't make it complicated--this is not about replacing existing modems. just making the new ones given out by AT&T (and replacement for failed old modems) more power efficient.

OK. It would be nice. There was so much talk about replacing modems in these threads, that I was only thinking about replacing modems.

I don't believe it will ever really make sence to replace an existing working current generation dsl modem with a lower power consumption version. This is based on the already very low power consumption of the modem.

Giving a lower power version to new customers to start with does make some sence if the initial price is similar.
