Why don't they put this filtering technology to good use by filtering SPAM and virii as it enters their network? People might actually support something like that.

because that doesnt please the corperate overlords who also hold stock in the entertainment industry, or congressman who are property of the entertainment industry. when someone is basicly a monopoly they dont have to do what is best for the customer which would be a cheap fast dumb pipe and email.
