| wow I agree she should of lost, but the $220k is outrageous, especially seeing they never proved that any of the songs she shared were ever uploaded to anyone.
Now I think the RIAA should be put under a microscope by the courts for all the damage they have caused to the INNOCENT people in the last few years with their bogus accusations and threat letters. This lasy deserved to lose she was in the wrong, but how many people have been financially cracked either with lawyer fees or settlement letters cause they were cheaper?
If the RIAA is suing for these so-called damages that music sharing causes, then they should get their day to reconcile for all the damages they cause as well.
I do believe it should be the govt. that does it as it would not be even close to fair the RIAA vs an ordinary citizen/victim. Our govt. is supposed to protect the people but yet it seems to be letting the big money mafia's attack and destroy at will with no intervention from the govt. really of any kind unless it is for the mafias.
Like I said, she deserved losing the case but the penalties should of matched the wrong doings and her income and property value.
I would like to see this kind of penalty the next time a mega corp or rich person loses in court, the penalties should be just as financially damaging to them as it is to the "filthy pirates". Pretty sad really, when is the last time that a murderer was ordered to pay $220k to the family of the victim? Sure you could argue that is the difference between civil and criminal, but does it really matter? A few songs, vs. A dead Mother, Husband, Brother or Child. You tell me who our government and courts protect. |
