| Is 5200 series modem better than 4200 series modem?
So here's the deal: DSL at my house works now, but only if I have the 5200 series modem plugged in. I had gotten 2 4200 series modems and neither of them seem to stay connected for more than an hour, but when I plug the 5200 series modem in, the connection works. I had both of the 4200 series modems "configured" and the DSL light on the 4200 series modems never stays lit. When the DSL light comes on, it stays on for about an hour or so. Also, when configuring the modem, all you have to do is log into the modem page and key in the account name and password, right? |

| Insufficient information. 4200 in router or bridge mode? 5200 in router or bridge mode? Firmware revision on 4200? Log snippets from 4200 when it drops DSL sync?
@Configuration: I infer you're talking about using these modems in router mode and allowing them to establish the PPPoE session. Log snippets would be very helpful as would SNR/ATTN values.
Don't infer disdain from the brevity of the post, I'm in a hurry |
