I ordered a 3Mbps connection for $24.99 at least two weeks ago on the 11th. They said the order would be coming in in 7-10 days. Hey, you must be near Gainesburger, I am east in Orange Springs.
Your story has been repeated with locals here. When they first put DSL out here in Nov 06, you would get your modem in 24 hours. Since then things went down hill. I have a spare modem I lent a neighbor for 2 weeks because his DSL was on but no modem. Not sure when they started billing him.
I you search back, probably hard to find, I documented his ordeal here.
They are my only choice also, but after living here almost 10 years on dialup, 3 on satellite, any thing is better!
Actually when it works it rocks. But it seems when the system breaks down, there is a lot of back and forth for a while (mine took 3 weeks to fix the one time it really broke). There seems to be a lot of who did or didn't do what to get where to do how the thing that fixed it. I am probably slightly exaggerating but it is the drift.
Besides what feels like to me as a customer run around on repairs, it's a pretty good company all in all.
The good thing during the time I was down, I had credit for the whole month. And only for 2 days did it get so bad I switched to their free modem service. If you not Green streak, then there is a free modem backup. Which is not as good, but I have had friends on cable in SE Florida, Comcast that were down for weeks with no dial up , nothing.
The reps that are on here will say don't call every day, but on the initial shipment I would. I know my friend gave them about 3 days ever time when he called find out where his modem was and every time there was another reason it had not shipped, though the modem was supposed to be there in 3 days several times.
Stick around, get a permanent Nic, we really really need more Florida people on here to compare notes when system gets flaky.
I am in Orange Springs, there MeSue is east of me yet in Hog Valley but we are on the same CO but different remotes. DRaw is in Alachua, closer to Hague running of a remote up there. And there is someone from Live Oak but they are not very active at all. MeSue hasn't been on a lot but I email her or call her on the phone if we need her input here on the forum.
Hope you stick around and at least lurk in the shadows.
