 Cannot find a DSL provider

Please help me. I live in Cedar Springs, Michigan (zip-49319) and have been looking for a high-speed provider (preferably DSL) for over two years now and no service is available at my location. It is very disturbing considering that I only live about a mile away from town. If anybody could help me find a high speed provider (other than satellite), or have any thoughts on why there has not been an available provider in my location I would most certainly appreciate it.

Hey I have the same problem and live in boon. Isn't it great? I'm 7 miles out of town but if they layed it out here they would make a profit eventually. I am confused as to how it costs so much to lay DSL.

Anyway the answer to your problem in the telco's words is, "Go screw yourself, We don't care." Good luck trying to find some, I reccomend searching for wireless providers on google or a similar search engine. Thats how I found out that for some reason I cant get any, and that the only areas served by Wireless ISP's are URBAN areas.

However pray for www.itsyournet.com go to the wireless internet section and read it.

You seem to be on the edge of Sprint's EVDO coverage. That's your best bet. Stop by the Sprint Mobile Broadband forum or WISP forum and I'm sure they'll help you if you can't get a good signal.

You might want to check with your State's Public Utilities Commission. Here in NH they maintain a list of broadband suppliers. Even if local Phone company (ILEC) does not offer DSL perhaps a CLEC has rented colo space and offers it.

Since you are close to town I would assume you can get broadband from the local Cableco?

As CMoore2004 See Profile posted EVDO may be available or there may be one or more Wireless ISPs operating in your area.

If money is no object you could always do what businesses do and have a T1 line installed. However cost is steep probably around $500 per month so you may want to get several neighbors to split the cost and set up a mini-ISP.

Joshua, I live in Cedar too and I'm over 17,000 ft from the terminal in town for DSL so I can't get it. I use WMIS wireless and they are pretty good. Their site is www.wmiswireless.net

I also got an advertisement from this place www.cynergycomm.net they claim people can get DSL up to 9 miles out of town with their "special equipment". They list Cedar Springs as one of the cities. Kind of sounds too good to be true but I might check them out. Gotta love living in a spot in Cedar with no DSL or cable....

Would you get Hughes Net in your area. They offer a broadband package.
