iphone update to 1.1.1

Hello

I was wondering how many iPhone users updated to the 1.1.1 version? Mine is right out of the box so I was wondering if I should update or not

Thanks
Jack

It has some added features that are pretty cool, and some enhancements to what's already there. I recommend it.

Third party apps add a lot more to the phone than Apple's updates which pretty much just allow you to give them more money. It adds the music store and the ability to do TV out with Apple's extremely overpriced cable.

So I say don't update to 1.1.1.

If you're going to use your iPhone as intended, then yes upgrade. If you're just going to load a bunch of apps on it and unlock it, then don't.

I didn't update as the 3rd party native apps are more valuable to me than the minor updates. In addition the iTunes WiFi store is slowly rolling out ("most major metropolitan areas in the U.S. by the end of 2008") and I have no intention of using it.

I don't use gmail for that, but I do use an IMAP server at my ISP. Works great.

Yeah, you need an IMAP server for that to work.

The iTunes WiFi store is available now anywhere your iPhone picks up a WiFi network. What is being rolled out is being able to see what song starbucks is playing when you're in there.

Thanks for clarifying. Two features I don't plan on using, one available now and one coming soon to a Starbucks near you...

Are you able to send mail, too? I've got my work e-mail (IMAP) set up and I can read everything with no problem. If I delete a message on my iPhone, it's deleted when I check Outlook on my desktop. I just can't send mail. I always get a connection with server failed message. It worked fine with 1.0, but stopped with 1.1 and 1.1.1.

I can send mail fine, but I'm not using any kind of exchange system (IMAP or not). Check that your password for the SMTP side is correct. I had that get forgotten on one of those updates.

These updates really suck as far as robustness is concerned though. As I've pontificated before, the last two have resulted in me having to do restores on my phone, including the SMTP password and WiFi passwords.

I've triple checked the password and even completely deleted the account and added it back. No luck.

Unless you have more than eight ringtones it's all good.

I have one. "Old Phone." It's the best.
