Chicago, IL | Hopefully Hopefully I'm all set up to go here in Chicago. I called the number listed in the article and told them I wanted to switch. No hassles or anything, the lady sounded glad to help me make the transition. For whatever reason, they are going to cut my phone service off on Friday and they have to provision a new set of wires for DSL only. I'm praying it's a cleaner line than I have now-noise margin and attenuation aren't exactly awe inspiring. She said service would be back up Monday but I'd have to go through the account set up again. I was told price would be 28.99 a month including taxes. This would be the first time in all my DSL experience the (un)advertised price is the same as the price on the bill.
I signed up last month with Magicjack for VOIP so don't see any compelling reason to keep voice with SBC. I remember a couple of years ago we had a major power outage due to wind here in Chicago and land line was out while cell worked just fine. This proved their argument of 'it's more reliable' to be hog wash. |
