fax on voice line

Does Embarq really prohibit faxing on the voice line???
From Embarq's site, residential voice package:

Service is not intended for commercial use, Internet, data or facsimile service. This calling plan is restricted to one plan per qualifying residential access line and is not available in student housing associated with educational institutions. If Embarq Communications, Inc., determines that usage is not consistent with residential voice conversation or for any other use that does not involve a person-to-person conversation or voice message, the service may be assessed a data usage fee or disconnected.

I've used my home service for fax/data, fax maybe one per quarter and data for backup when the dsl is down, never had an additional charge added to my bill.

Ditto - although it is usually my wife that does the dialout, since she works at home.

Faxing is not something we do alot, though....

That disclaimer is in reference to the unlimited long distance plan. The plan is intended for residential, voice usage not prolonged data usage or as a business class plan.

Getting a voice line does not restrict these things, but the long distance in the package does.

that disclaimer is really for the use of dial up to isp's that have a long distance #. Sometimes using ld # for dial up yields better connection speeds, but if embarq allowed this it would cost $$$$ due to people having the isp dialed up for hours, however using a fax there is no way to determine that the number you are dialing is in fact only a fax#. I am sure their system only looks to see if the same number is dialed repeatedly, for hrs on end, then spits out a report, in which embarq can cross reference to see if it is a dialup isp. the fax would be like on a few min then off
