DSL/T1 Service. Help!!

I just recently moved to the Port Charlotte, Florida(33953) area and I guess it was my own fault for not checking internet availability before I moved in but i got such a great deal on the house i couldn't pass it up. Anyways, i currently have Embarq.net's "512kbps connection". It is as bad as dial up(yes, i know thats harsh but its the truth). I run an online business as well as do a lot of gaming. Any one have any ideas on possible T1 service for less then $400/month with FREE installation? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your help but I just had a few more questions before i order T1 service. They are wanting me to sign the contract before the installation is even started. I can understand this but then again i don't. Is this just something I do and suck it up? What if i get the service and it absolutely sucks and does not provide me with what i am expecting. It is a 1 year term. Any thoughts? Thanks.

You won't find any provider who we start the process without a contract, that is how service works.

As far as quality of service, this is where you want to do your research, and compare quotes, price isn't everything.

-Look at the company (ISP/Carrier).
-Look at who is your point of contact. Are you dealing with an agent, who just sells you a package, to earn a commission, and that is it, or the actual ISP/Carrier who will be with you til the end.
-Look at the SLA
-Look at reviews
-Talk with other clients if possible.

many things come into play.

I am actually going through BandwidthExperts.com. They are a reseller for AT&T Business T1 services. The SLA is AT&T's SLA.

That's is correct getting a T1 Circuit ordered will not be done with out the signed contract. Just read and understand the contract and sla complete.

I'd be interesed on the pricing you get through them and is the circuit directly through AT&T or are they truely reselling the network off thier own ATM network.

The quote that i got through Bandwidthexperts.com is for a Full 1.5/1.5 T1, and it is directly through AT&T (no ATM). I got a quote of $502/month, Free Router, Free Install. They wanted a $1,500 deposit, which i can't do. I am waiting on a quote from another company.

My new quote is through Qwest for 1.5/1.5 Full T1. $520/month, Free Install, and I have to purchase the router. They are also wanting me to have an available "ground" connection as well as a 2" x 2" peace of plywood to mount the hardware on. I'm glad they told me this previously, and not the DAY they showed up to install it.

don't be surprised if the order gets kicked. Qwest policy not to install in a house. you're working through a reseller, right?

A backboard and ground are required to mount and properly ground the mounting for the smartjack and yes they did you and the ILEC a favor as without one in place the order would be jepped for subscriber not ready.

BTW the plywood should be a minimum of 1/2 inch thick and the ground shall be a copper wire number 10 gauge minimum for a single special circuit however if you have it available number 6 is the correct way to go..

Why not we (at&t) do it all the time actually not inside the home but outside with a wall mounted outdoor cabinet for the smart jack.

Why not
I can't say for sure, but probably too many credit issues, too many accounts that don't fulfill their contract ("I can get cable now, cancel my T1"), too many facilities issues, and too many truck rolls due to customer not ready. Perhaps AT&T is in a better position to absorb those extra variables!

I sold a T1 to a residential house in Jackson, MS not too long ago. I believe he was about 60 or 70 years old and a stock broker. Nicest guy in the world. That was a bit odd of an order, though.
