and WHO is going to GIVE directv the satellites that going into space to send the Hd to us?

and WHO is going to give Directv the rockets to send the sattellites into space

It's too bad that DirectTV has to blast rockets into space and deploy expensive satellites to deliver channels to you.

That's why wires are always better and more reliable than wireless.

Maybe in 50 years, wireless tech will outperform wired tech.

Cable companies get their channels from satellites and then distribute them over their cables. So, exactly how are wires better?

jackknife,DJ_Kismuth must think that the cable go from his home out to a poll, then arcoss the nation or through the Forrest & under the sea to the station doing the actual broadcast station & the world is flat,

I hate to have to tell him the world is round

We're already paying... This, to me, is not added service. It is REPLACEMENT service. That's called the cost of doing business.

Better give the fuel to DirecTV, because NASA hasn't done a Commercial satellite in a long time. Try Sea Launch.

Easy. I can get all my HD channels through one wire, along with phone and high speed internet. On the other hand, it apparently takes about 12 satellites to get all the channels down to a single customer, WITH a 33% cut in HD resolution.

In simple terms: satellite bandwidth sucks.

and you forgot the most important thing,
you get to pay 2 to 3 x's the amount for cable that sattelite users have to pay
