anon : This is elementary, but I have to ask -- do you know that SE's mail server requires outgoing authentication? I.e., you have to supply a password. I use Netscape 7 & IMAP to get mail, and when I send mail, I get a pop-up for me to supply my password. Do you get that? Have you tried any other clients? Thunderbird, Outlook Express (my wife uses, with Pop3)...?

Last, how about SE support? Any contact? If so, what do they say?

I have never had any real problem with SE's mail server; sometimes I get a disconnected message, but I'm always able to get back. Perhaps it just is too busy sometimes.

HTH.
--
David
