Re: Canadian Mint: Most Favour Getting Rid Of The Penny

I don't mind pennies. If you don't like carrying around a lot of pennies I found a good way to get rid of them. Spend them. Works well for me I rarely have more than a couple in my pocket.

Indeed. Same goes for loonies and toonies.

Personally I don't have a problem with loonies and toonies. If I collect more than $10 worth in my pocket I make a point of spending them at the earliest opportunity as it presents itself.

Then again the way I look at it is thusly. A $5 bill is approximately worth what a $1 bill was about 15 years ago. Four quarters to the Dollar/5 Loonies to the $5 bill. I really just think of a loonie as an oversized quarter in terms of actual buying power.

It's the penny that's totally worthless as a currency and really only serves as a bottleneck for long cashier lines and a boat anchor for weighing down mob hits at the bottom of the bay.

Other than those two uses the penny really serves no useful purpose in this day and age and serves to tie up millions of tons of copper for absolutely no good reason.
