Napsterbater : Well first question. do you have a Public IP or a Privet IP goto the Status Page of the BEFSR41 and tells us what the IP is (correction tell us what the first 3 numbers are). Also goto the Applications & Gaming and turn on UPnP.

I had a couple pages open and Was attreacted here by some great threads on NAT and IPV6.

Id probably get better answers on this forum too, but my bad move it if its out of place.

So many people are not getting the most out of their connections do to their settings being off. I hear people complain all the time, yet people get offended on their when you try to help them.
XBOX Live Xbox360 NAT settings LinksysBEFSR41 router/gateway

HoLLowTip : Please don't move this thread. I'm in a mixed mode environment and I use cat5 when i can but I have a wireless conenection from San Jose California. Wbba.net or pacwifi.net They hook up to a large portion of fiber optic so before you post make sure your not getting screwed by a cheap company running wifi via a shared dsl connection. I'm lucky that out of 3 companies i had site serveys for, My buddy from High school and paint balling showed up and saved me from getting ripped off by another company claming i need a 30inch dish antenna 150 a month dedicated 5Mbps and expensive install. The other mopany Redshift turns out to be one guy with a 3 person staff that seems to always change running it off copper connections to my area. lol

Anyways if you have any expierience with XBOX360 network testing id love to hear peoples Brand/Model/Settings/Test reults and most important.....Their on line gaming experience. I play Rainbow six.

I want to help everyone including myself be able to pass the network test with OPEN for the NAT test, and be ABLE TO CONNECT TO EVERYONE'S SERVER AND HEAR AND TRANSMIT OVER THE HEADSET.

Has anyone ever seen an XBOX LIVE certified sticker on a router or network device. When i looked on their "XBOX LIVE COMPATIBLE " it was a link over to WINDOWS VISTA CAPABLE ROUTERS. lol How desperate are they to launch that POS. haha

Ive got a box of routers, and am using a Wired Linksys cable/DSL Router model BEFSR41 because i owned a cisco back when I had ISDN. Lately ive looked at customer reviews trying to find that perfect router and everyone gave them 1 star out of five on that particular store. I guess they never put any of that good CISCO technology in when they slapped their name on it. Kind of like ATT&T who use to be SBC but actially still are...SAme company that use to be PAc bell. Same shit. They just use money to wash away the dirty rep their name stands for. Dont get me started.lol

Right now im sharing the connection, was fortunate to get a static ip and DNS servers.

Rainbow Six vegas worked on line great for a week and a half and has been down hill from their.

Linksys BEFSR41 is acting as the gateway/router and thats connected to my wireless ISP's AP access point as well as a Tranzeoo 6000 AP that does a PTP up to a CPE 200 also by tranzeo.

Ive got all the settings how they should be but i forgot my passwords for the tranzeo's and you have to have the receit for proof of ownership cuz theirs no reset button on powerful ISP radios. I figure i just need to match the settings.

There are some of the smartest people i know tech wise on this dslreports. Id like to go over in detail every setting that should be enable or disabled to find out the optimal settings while still having a secuire environment for the rest of the network.

For those who don't XBOX360 live test screen it looks like this:

TEST XBOX LIVE Connection

Network adapter: Wired more info
Wireless Network more info
IP Address: CONFIRMED
MTU: Confirmed
ICMP Confirmed
XBOXLIVE: Connected
NAT: Strict

This is horrible if your trying to run a dedicated XBOX360 server. Allot of people wont be able to even join if they try. IF they do I sometimes can hear 2 out of 16 people worst case scenario. That and It doesn't even show pings, so most people would avoid it.

I planned to play Xbox live today but im the type of person that wants everything perfect. My mics are a month old and i cant use them anymore. Worked for a week now I just get booted if im not muting my mic. Ive got a great ping, and last night i was in a room where two other people had their voice echoing. First thing somebody asked was "Do you have Wireless?" They both did.

Everything would run great if i wasn't on the end of my lan at my Home receiving my uncapped connection over a point to point 11MBPS...

2.4Ghz tranzeo radios. Lots of noise in the area. I was told that we get to switch radios to a frequency opened up by homeland security because we serve a local fire/police department. Would that be 5.4?

Back the settings.

Ive been running Static primary and secondary DNS from my IP but today i thought id take a look at DDNS service and signed up for a ddynds free dynamic dns service. Havent tested it yet. In fact its the one setting i always overlooked. Need more info on it, and if it can help me host XBOX LIVE GAMES better.

I run CA security suite because theirs business computes on the LAN.

Should i just get a second connection. I'm afraid to ask for a new one because im getting taken care of pretty good, and it blows away every other speed test on Speakeasy.net's San Fransisco speed test.

Currently ive got 3 linksys switches, 1 Router, 3 tranzeo radios, and about 6 pc/laptops all static.

I have a feeling its my ptp but all i can do is power cycle everything and its a pain in the ass to drive down to the router and AP's.

My MTU is 1500
ICMP...Internet control message protocol????

NAT network address translation. I wish i could just disable it but nothing connects to the internet with it off.

How about dynamic routing, Rip protocol/version. UPNP

You guys know routers, they all have basicly the same variety of settings.

My main concern is the damn NAT is always moderate or strict. does it change from the dynamic rip protocol?

im thinking of trying a netgear and disabling the wireless rangemax....

I don't know, but Ive combed the internet. IM the type that wastes time forcing something to work when the time i spent cold have bout me a couple high end Cisco layered switches ect....lol I think i coul have ditch witched/lay ed fiber by now. lol

Hoping everyone posts something even if you don't have the cure for me. Port forwarding to 88 and 3074 as well as DMZ server still leaves my NAT at moderate.

If i buy a new router I want the very best suggestions up to 1500$

This thread is dedicated to everyone that needs help with getting their xbox360 optimized with an OPEN NAT no matter which brand of router or gateway your using.
Linksys, Dlink, Netgear, Cisco, Belkin, Motorola

Wired or wireless or both. I just did a Google search and found a post that ended up being my own from a long time ago. Wish i noticed that before i made a new username. Ive got a premium account with 100 points i never found a use for. lol what are the odds... I would run into the same problem months after helping somebody with a similar problem i was yet to face.

Decided to start a new thread. Every thread i wanted to reply to was closed. Ive been researching and trying different combos today and all last week.

Hope i covered everything enough so everything eventually gets answered. id rather die than be forced to buy an item because its vista capable. Remember To post things to help everyone in general not just my problem please. I hope to get to the bottom of this on this thread alone.
Thanks in advance to all who reply
