please avoid long quotes! oh, but if we don't keep repeating ourselves, and others, it would be so dead ... like the recording industry.

I used to go to drive-thru for lunches, a lot. If the vendor would put one cashier's input device for guest's to use with credit cards, we could order what we wanted, at least we could think our order was correct, once upon a time

Broadband from a Pinhead to the Universe!

I used to do telecom software, SNA, earlier and TCP/IP, later.

Instead, now I have CFS. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome).

No insults intended I am a pinhead by virtue of my disease ... I have had CFS for ten years.

Now Stanford Medical Research may be on the trail to the end of this rest period, or, may not. If I was healthier, I could fly up to SF and join the research guinea pigs, but then, I wouldn't be sick enough to be interesting to them ... I am in the group that they have some success with, called flu onset, or something like that.

I went to a far off big airport to glory in the customer acceptance test completion of the E-1 system I wrote and caught some nasty flu bug and loved the food and the beautiful scenery and came back the big hero. (well, in my mind

After travelling about 36 hours home, I went to my office and turned in the huge E-1 analysis box I had hand carried there, and went home to bed. E-1 is like T-1, for areas with somewhat less stable networks. Wire, back then.

New technology was fun, but, it always had big clumsy test equipment the first couple of years. I once worked in a late great telecom company. As they started getting really successful, they built a fancy new technology and business center. It was great, nice views out the windows, good cafeteria, and each desk had a single RS-232 cable to the Computer Room. Pre-PC It was a Teflon sheathed bunch of wires. We went from 9.6K to 19.2K while I worked there. Our Asynch text only terminals were 24x80, plus a status line.

My flu got worse and I was sent by my Dr. to a specialist in
Infectious Diseases after the Pulmonary specialist said my lungs were fine, the first suspected system ...

After giving lots of blood samples, I got a SPECT scan of my central processor. It was not getting much blood flow.

Actually took the medical staff a couple hours to detect any movement ... I assumed they were having technical problems. Nope, my brains were, and still are, having technical problems

So the Infectious Disease Dr. got their report and cried telling me I was seriously out of good health. This was after many months of testing and not working, just sleeping and loosing lots of weight. I had pretty much guessed

More later.
