mutiple ip setup

i have speakeasy dsl with several static ip's i have been using speakeasy supplied modem with built in 4 port switch to 4 separate routers
this has worked well for several years.
the last few months i have been getting lockup on modem/switch
i got a new modem from speakeasy with only one lan port so i put a switch between modem and routers.
i now get a lockup on the new switch so this leads me to believe it was the switch locking up on the old modem/switch

what could be causing this lockup and what would be the best setup...?

i use multiple routers and ip's because i want access to different computers on the same ports for rdc and timbuktu etc along with web, mail, and dns servers.....

i have a linksys 24 port vlan gigbit switch with about 8 unused ports
i was thinking of creating a vlan for 5 of the ports for the wan connections maybe this switch is more reliable would this work should i try this....?

(your post in the networking forum)
If you are asking speakeasy for help, if it's your switch its your problem (meaning speakeasy or any other ISP will not support it) and your best option is as you are already doing in the networking forum.
