| ViaTalk charging pre-paid customers for E911 AGAIN
The ViaTalk billing system just tried to charge me $2.50 for: E-911 & Regulatory Recovery Fee. I am a pre-paid customer who signed up long before they created these fees. I thought VT Brendan said that we were grandfathered in and didn't have to pay these fees till the term of our original contracts were up? Has that policy changed? -- My Blog on blogspot.com |

| reply to actor90 I suppose this is another 'mistake' that will be corrected. But, just in case it isn't a 'mistake', Vonage must understand that this customer will not be happy; that he accepted an offer presented by Vonage and that he expects Vonage to perform to the letter of that offer.

| reply to actor90 Add me to those who have been charged. This makes me want to just forget what is left of my free year and move to another company.
I have been mostly satisfied with Viatalk...and luckily I haven't had to contact customer service in the past few months. However, once they start messing with my money I get a little more than upset. Unauthorized charges are unacceptable! Regardless if it is a billing mistake. Regardless of whether it is for only $2.50. The fact that they can't seem to control their billing system shows just the tip of that iceberg of problems.
I will be doing a chargeback (sorry if a chargeback costs more than crediting my account or returning the money to the card...Viatalk created the problem, they can deal with whatever charges come their way). |

3 edits | reply to actor90 I renewed last month and updated my CC number since it had expired. My new CC was charged last week so I know the information was was successfully changed.
Today I received an e-mail saying my CC had expired. It listed the last 4 digits of my CC number and the expiration date. Sure enough They were the old CC and the old expiration dates. I guess they lost my updated information. !!!!!!
To make matters worse, the email had my ViaTalk username and password in it at the bottom.
when I tried to access my billing page it took over 5 minutes for the page to load. The Update CC page has been loading for 16 mnutes and has not finished yet.(Boy they must be busy sending out those $2.50 "E-911" fee e-mails.)
Totally unacceptable!!!

1 edit | reply to actor90 I was hit with it, too. Submitted a ticket on it... of course, with the ticket wait times, it might be a while before they answer.

Do we have to call in to get the charge reversed?
I guess since Telecrooks are going under Viatalk feels the need to fill the void! |

When SR went down,I signed up with VT on July 16 and was promised and given the 2nd year free, as my SR contract went till Dec 2009.
It was clear to me that there would be a $2.50 monthly for 911 and such and although I didn't like it, I accepted it. It seems like most providers have or will be doing this. |

Yeah, all providers are doing it now, but those of us who signed up before those fees were instituted we not supposed to be charged until we renewed the contract. I've never paid it until this morning. We'll see what they say. |

| reply to actor90 I went to submit a ticket for the charge and the ticket system at first wouldn't accept it saying the FAQ addressed the issue ... luckily, it would accept the submission after a SECOND acknowledgement ... what a pain ... GO VIATALK
( I'm also prepaid before they started the E911 fees ) |
