You can do anything that is not illegal on your DSL connection, including running servers. HOWEVER, you are NOT allowed to resell services, such as selling email access to others.

Even if they don't, running a mail server on a dynamically assigned IP address will still run into blocks at the destination. AOL blocks dynamic IP address; as do I.
