Re: An amicable divorce from SpeakEasy --- SE gets the kid

I sure wish FIOS was available in Houston. I'm paying over $100/mo for 6.0/768 and extra static IP's from Speakeasy. I can't complain about Speakeasy's service, which has been practically trouble-free for 2 1/2 years so far. I'm not wild about going back to cable internet, always had intermittent outages with RoadRunner, and I doubt Comcast has improved things much.
The only option around here for faster service is ADSL2, which Speakeasy is rolling out but it isn't available in my area yet, and is nearly $200/mo for 15mb/3mb service. I can't justify spending that much for personal use.
I could always move 45 miles across town to Humble which is Verizon territory, but that's pretty drastic in my book.

Off topic, my appollogies, but FixManTx,

If you are on an older package (read as not a current offered package) you may want to call in and see if there is an equvalent priced package that includes xx amount of extra ip's.

May not save alot, but if you can get them into a package with the ip's included, might save 10 or 20 bucks a month.

I'm in the same SE pricing boat as you, over $100/mo for 6/768. I'm not paying for extra static IPs as my account 'includes' four.
I'd really like to bring that bill down, but while FIOS residential offers better speeds for less cost, the TOS stinks for my needs.

FIOS business seems to have the TOS I need but the cost is the same, if not more (if I could get someone to tell me their taxes/fees!), than I'm paying now. I don't NEED the business-level speed...

But, since I've had some connection problems with SE recently, I'm more and more inclined to just get the residential FIOS service and deal with the TOS restrictions, at least for now.
