It will be much more likely priced tiers by data transferred instead of speeds. For example: $42.95 flat rate up to 50 GB/mo $52.95 flat rate up to 100 GB/mo $72.95 flat rate up to 150 GB/mo
and the more bandwidth is consumed, the tier prices won't be going up in a straight line. But will go up on ever steeper curve.
$112.95 flat rate up to 200 GB/mo $172.95 flat rate up to 250 GB/mo etc. etc. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page |

Either way, if you get a server and download a TB worth of "linux distros", how the hell do you get those "linux distros" from the server to your machine? I guess you could pay somebody at the datacenter to burn them on a DVD for you, but that would be expensive. -- The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility, and out of self interest -- for himself, his family, and the future of his country -- to resist government abuse of power. Bring it! While I would REALLY rather they did not do this, my *current* usage would be under the radar. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

And much to the regret of some here, I am online a lot. If they aren't one of the few doing massive P2P file transfers, they have no worries about byte tiers instead of speed tiers.
P.S. - looking at your Oct/07 numbers I'd say you were doing some back up of files to an online file storage system. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page |

Usually, I stay under 30GB per month. This *DOES* include movies and a little "other" video content. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

I guess you could pay somebody at the datacenter to burn them on a DVD for you, but that would be expensive. But that is more for liability reasons than bandwidth ones. The point that he is making is that if they want to go on a pay/byte setup, give us the fair rates that said datacenters would provide, as well as the speed. Fact of the matter is, if they were to give us those rates (ie, the honest bandwidth cost plus their cut), they would lose money in comparison because only hogs would be really using/paying it. |
