Re: Comcast moving MSNBC to Digital package

I finally got through to Comcast on the phone and got the scoop - MSNBC is staying in their Standard package, just moving from channel 63 to 26.

That sucks. Not that I watch much MSNBC. At least they haven't moved Sci-Fi, yet. With the move to digital are they at least providing the signal free of encryption via QAM so we don't have to rent a box if we have a QAM receiver in the TV? I don't have one (HDTV) yet so I cannot check hence my reason for asking.

This seems to be a nationwide move by Comcast. See for example - »blog.coloradodems.org/2007/06/05···cast-tv/

Other cable channels are also being moved. Comcast may want to have more digital subscribers and are starting to limit the non-digital channels.

A few days ago, I got a flyer from Comcast about changes to their lineup. I thought - Oh, they're just moving things around again, didn't read it and threw it out. Now I am hearing that one of the changes they are making is to move MSNBC out of the standard package and into the Digital package. Has anyone else received this flyer - if so, can you tell me what it says? I've searched the Comcast web site but can't find anyting about it.

Thanks,

Kathleen
