Good

Any time a Democrat party-backed attempt to "help" us "fight" against bad guys fails, it is almost always a good thing for the USA.

Re: Good

So its good for the USA for the government to spy on it's own citizens without any over-site and those that help them should also be granted a free pass to pass along anything the government asks for?

The Forth Amendment to the Constitution is being re-written as we speak to make it easier for the government to spy on it's citizens and people applaud it.

At what point do those, who have no problem with this, draw the line at the continuous intrusion of the government into our private lives?

At times like this I think a line from the last Star Wars movie is appropriate and oh so true: "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

You're comparing the situation in the USA to a fictional movie?

Re: Good

What? That was a long time ago and far far away.

The U.S.A. is just following historical precedence...of the corruption of democracies by those with agendas and who are in the position of power to make those changes for their own personal gains.

Checks and balances? Oh wait, forget those, who needs 'em, right? Now, what were we talking about?

What exactly is the situation in the USA at the moment? I'm confused as to what is going on in the self-professed home of democracy these days.

What is the situation that makes this appropriate specifically?

Actually yes. Our liberty (or expectation against unreasonable searches by the government) is dying at the expense of security and people are cheering it on.

I do find it interesting that people who support the ever increasing government surveillance avoided answering the question about where to draw the line. Should we just install microchips in everyone and let the government track everything we say do and where we go? How far is to far for government surveillance?

Amen brother. All these dope smoking, birkenstock wearing, tree huggers forget that it was their illustrious President Jimmy Carter that pushed for and successfully established the original FISA act. Actually they don't forget, they choose not to remember whenever discussing it. Who are they going to blame when a Democrat is ultimately in the White and does the same thing? I'm quite sure the silence will be deafening.

I am still amazed at how folks buy into the twisted reasoning that the government needs to restrict or eliminate liberty in order to protect our way (liberty) of life. But let's run with that a moment... What I want to hear is the Busheviks calling on loyal citizens to allow the government to kill them so that the terrorists can't. I want to see all these slack-jawed Stepford Republicans leap up to be the first in line. I want to see them buried wearing cute little cheerleader outfits emblazoned with the words - "HA! TAKE THAT OSAMA! LET'S ROLL!!"

I'm still amazed at how some people continue to think any of our freedoms have been taken away.

Yawn. If you are so convinced you are correct, then it should have been trivially easy for you to disprove my claim.

My claim stands, absolutely and irrefutably true. We have lost no rights.

Trivial indeed but there is simply nothing to be gained in trying to convince one who is willfully blind.

Perhaps I misunderestimated your capacity to carry on a good argument, as you fell so easily.
