| Whose Civil Liberties? Many liberals, as exemplified by Chris Dodd, continue to beat the "civil liberties" drum relative to the US's fight against terrorism. Whose liberties have been violated other than those who would do the US harm? Do you lack faith when the government tries to protect us? I suspect many who do lack this sort of faith are all for a nationalized health care system. Sorry, I personally have a lot more faith in our governments ability to appropriately protect this country from terrorism than something like Hillary care providing my healthcare. |
1 edit | Well quite obviously, you missed the boat on this whole argument. ALL our liberties have been violated. Instead of America standing for a Democracy, we're now becoming a police state. Under these current policies, you are assumed guilty until proven otherwise. However, I know your response will be, "what do you got to hide, if you are doing nothing wrong". That's just B.S. rhetoric from someone who doesn't understand the magnitude of the situations. It's not what we have to hide, but what we wish to stand for that is the point. Do we really want a country and government that feels the need to spy on everyone? If you answered yes, then maybe the U.S. isn't right for you. Under no circumstances can America serve as a model for Democracy when we're all but going against the fundamental principles. After all, democracy means democratic. In term, the people chose their elected officials, which are then suppose to represent them. When it becomes the case, these elected officials betray the trust, such as they are doing now, we have major problems. Are you seriously trying to tell me that you support the stripping away of the Constitution because some psuedo terrorists are after you? Let me give you a quick history lesson on who the real terrorists of America have been. 1) Abortion Clinic Bombers (Right wing). Timothy Mcveigh (Right Wing Christian and second worst attack on this country). Ego Terrorism (left Wing). School Shooters (99 percent have been from southern right win states). So before you speak further, you might wish to wipe away your bigotry and consider the real threats against this country. One attack of magnitude by Muslims and multiple attacks by Red Blooded Americans. This of course, not taking into account the Atrocities committed historically by Christians in other countries in Modern Times. Such examples include the Baptist, Methodist, Catholic Support of Hitler in exterminating the jews or the Bosnian Serbs (Christians) genocide on Ethnic Muslims. SO before you scream about the boogey, maybe you should check the facts first. I for one believe patrick Henry says it best. Give me Liberty or Give me Death. You might wish to google him and the founding fathers that believed the same mantra when they wrote the document called the Constitution. |
