Am I near a CO?

Hi there, I am moving out on my own for the first time and when I was at home we had Rogers, it was fast download, but uploads were slow. Also, when I used "legal" torrents for linux distros I couldn't upload more than 10kb/sec.

I'm moving near Eglinton and Mavis in Mississauga, was wondering if I'm near a CO, as well, does TS throttle torrents like "evil" Rogers.

I also need a phone line that's working to obtain TS correct? Thanks a bunch!

I forgot to mention as well, i'll be living in a basement apt. The phone line will be in my name and my number. That's ok right?

As well whats the diff between the unlimited dry dsl and unlimited coget dsl?

Thanks again

TSR does not throttle any traffic except newsgroups I think.

The newsgroup service that comes with TSI static IP is limited to 1Mbps (and not always ), but if you use your own NNTP provider - free or otherwise - it is neither capped nor throttled. Nothing is throttled.

thenay84, you should call Teksavvy for CO information. Relying on anecdotal information from other people in your area is ... unreliable. "Dry DSL" refers to having the copper phone wires come into your apartment, but not having actual phone service (ie. a dialtone) on that line, and that costs extra ($8/mth?) for Bell to provision the line for DSL. For those with a working Bell landline, it's not an issue.

"Unlimited" means no download cap. The Premium service (which can also be on dry DSL) has a 100GB per month cap, with some flexibility about that.

Why am I even here on "1020 day"?

I've never used newsgroups before, apprently you gotta pay for them, lol, but thanks for the info

So just to make sure I know, Unlim Dry DSL is where I can have the service but no landline needed but pay Bell $8/mth extra. What's the Band Rate thing about too?

*I went to the homepage, i'm Band B, so I guess thats the $8mth fee u were talking about? So it's $9.10 for me*

The other service Unlimited DSL I do need a phone line.

What i'm looking for is unlimited bandwidth service, no throttling (I usually do 150GB total up/down, 75GB each) and something fast where I can get atleast 300kb/sec down, 30kb/sec up Also, preferred no landline, I have a cell and free after 6pm on days and all weekends, I work 10am - 6pm.. lol

What service sounds good for me? Thank you so much for your help!

Sounds like the unlimited Dry DSL is where you want to be. If you'd like one of our techs to do an address qualification, please feel free to post your full address in the TekSavvy Direct forum and one of us will gladly reply with the speed qual.

Regards,

Rick
