I can now see the smoke from my 20 looking North up the coast. I understand there are about 16 homes engulfed including the famous Kashan Castle .

How is it that certain homes are burning, yet the brush next to them don't seem to be?

thats the way fire storms with 50 kt Santa Ana's pushing act...One block is sparred while the other is decimated....And indeed the famous Castle is gone.

I don't recall the exact words, but it seemed to me the gist of it was more like, "[He has better (or more important?) things to do than deal with us]," as if acknowledging being in the way. The crew was on the campus' private property. Anyhow that was my take on it.

And yeah, the young campus cop was funny: stuck between not being authorized to speak on camera and being obliged to tell them to leave while it was running.

A new fire has started at the 15 and Glen Helen...Confirmed by Lisa's Sister in Law, who had to turn around...Fire burning to the SSW from the NNE towards North Fontana and Rialto. only one unit on scene calling for mutual aid and tankers.

Yeah, we're getting smoke from the Devore fire at our house in Bloomington. The wind's blowing pretty good. I was in my 88 1 ton dually and it was getting knocked around pretty good.

I believe the death and the injuries happened at the Harris fire near Potrero.

According to my source, it's burning over the hill in Santiago Canyon. Shot these 30 minutes or so ago. One looking up toward the canyon and Orange, two toward the West and the old El Toro base.

Thanks. We went out and I got a few (dozen) photos too. Haven't had a chance to get them off the camera yet.

I can see red/orange glowing smoke from my front porch, but it's a few miles away.

That's where we turned around as fire trucks started to pass us.

 Just went out to get a bite to eat in Aliso Viejo and the Santiago Canyon fire is absolutely exploding off to the north. Can see flames here and we are 10 miles due south or so. People are stopping in their cars on some of the roads with good views to check it out.

Aliso Viejo, CA		 OC Register reporting mandatory evacuation in the area of the 241 and Portola, but I don't know which Portola exit. I am assuming the west exit near the Portola Springs development in Irvine.
