Digging up an old thread, I know. But they have a composite of a suspected arsonist for "The Rosas" fire.

I understand that he is under the age of 12....The DA is considering the case....What do you do a kid playing with matches, especially if he has no concept of what has happened.

It's not fair to compare the Katrina disaster with our SoCal fire disaster.

In LA the disaster struck only (or mostly) hillside developments. In New Orleans it struck the entire city. Los Angeles still had the infrastructure intact. In New Orleans the infrastructure was decimated.

The two are not comparable.
While that is totally true, we in caifornia are still more used to dealing with disasters and responding to them then saying people in new orleans were at the time it hit it them. We deal with fires regularly, we also deal with mudslides on regular bases in addiftion to earthquakes once in a while and flooding.

No rain in the forecast for the next 14 days except for some early morning drizzle along the coast.
How about late afternoon drizzle? That's what we have here in Tustin right now. Looking at the radar, its should also be drizzling in the hills. good news for the firefight.
I experienced rain from Irvine to RSM. Unfortunately the ground didn't look wet here in the hills. I don't think it'll help the fire fight much.

The mountaininfo.com webcams also show a wet parking lot at the lake arrowhead village.

Official or not, there were a whole bunch of people smart enough to get out of Dodge. Many of my friends were not on the 'official' evacuation. They just packed up and left, many in their RV's.

Fire near Silverado has not descended into town ... - 9:23 a.m.

The fire along the ridgeline near Silverado was still burning this morning but had not descended into town, Orange County Fire Officials said. Flames are estimated roughly to be about three miles up Maple Springs road from the checkpoint at the end of Silverado Canyon road, about 3,000 feet above the town. Fire officials said that they are seeing "up-canyon" winds during the day, that tend to push the flames away from town. But houses in the town had been sprayed with fire-retardant and residents are under mandatory evacuation order. To the northeast, the fire was still moving towards the main divide and the Riverside County line but had not crossed county lines overnight. Fire officials said that 18 bulldozers crews dug about five miles of firebreak lines overnight near the Orange County and Riverside lines but had another ten miles still to dig. Air drops of flame retardant reinforced about 2.5 miles of fire lines near the county border.

20% chance of light showers and fire tornado's

said by 81399672 See Profile :

well that sound not to bad, except for no rain.
Remember that cut off low I was talking about a couple of days ago, well it is moving this way so there is a 20% chance of light showers over the Mt's and inland valleys, and it will keep the temps down but more importantly the humidity and dew point will go back up giving fire fighters a real chance to get a handle on all of the fires.

Still looking at a weak off shore flow on Monday and Tuesday after the cut off low moves through.

This is a link to a fire storm that spawns its own Tornado.
