Re: Major Fire Alerts, Malibu, Chatsworth

OC Register reporting mandatory evacuation in the area of the 241 and Portola, but I don't know which Portola exit. I am assuming the west exit near the Portola Springs development in Irvine.

Has to be the Irvine one. Nothing more than a faint, orange glow along the hill line from here (so far).

It sounds really bad out there. I saw live shots of the fire in Malibu. That looks really scary with all the fire.

Stay safe, everyone!

Thanks Kristi....Laguna Peak in Santa Barbara County recorded winds at 108 mph at 6:30....We have winds of 35 to 40 with gusts to 60....Our mobile home tends to move a little when it does that and I am sitting in the Northeast corner of our double wide....Feels like little earthquakes.

My ex's brother lives in Santa Clarita, and they were told to evacuate several hours ago.
Hope everybody gets through this OK....

Here's some of the photos I got:

From my front porch looking mostly east.

Tustin Ranch Rd @ I-5.

Jamboree @ Irvine

Irvine Overpass of 261 toll road:

That's where we turned around as fire trucks started to pass us.

Now, three an a half hours later, it's really smoky outside. and I can smell it in here.

I've been through so many of these friggin things.... now I'm about 4 miles from the Camarillo/Moorpark fire on Santa Rosa Rd and maybe 12 miles north of Malibu, and i heard think there was one near Figuroa Mtn in Ojai earlier too, the sky is red all over. At about 3:00pm everybody on the roads had their lights on it was so dark. Worse for me was my power was out for 5 hours this morning, was about to run to the store for ice. Very inconvenient while houses burn.

Speaking of power, what is up with that. Did some power line get knocked out as result of the fire?

An acquaintance is evacuating her place Portola Springs and coming to stay with neighbors here.

New fire now in Ontario off the 10 at Vineyard. Lemme tell you, I almost crapped my pants today when I saw a big rig tip over on the EB60 to NB15 Trans Road around 5 today. Scared the shit out of me. Tomorrow I'm not driving my Yukon to work. Fuck that. It was worse than driving on ice today.

We are about 12 miles as the crow flies, but Lisa's sister in law lives up in Devore where the other fire started at almost the same time as the fire on the other side of the hill and yet that fire was a car fire according to CHP.

They were just now allowed to go back in after being out for over 9 hours...But winds in that area are up to 70 mph, so they have no lights, nor hot water.
