| Firefox 2.0.0.8 - exiting issue or ?
Since getting this latest Firefox, CCleaner (v1.24.180) apparently sees the browser as open after use until reboot. CCleaner displays the following:
"You must close Firefox/Mozilla to allow the Internet Cache to be cleaned.
Otherwise this process will be skipped." Anybody else seeing similar situations with Firefox continuing to be seen as open by CCleaner or other applications? Task Manager doesn't show it running. -- The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once. ▪Albert Einstein |

| I am running firefox 2.0.0.8 and ccleaner 2.01.507 with no issues. You can download the latest ccleaner at »www.ccleaner.com/download
I have never experienced that problem with any of the versions of ccleaner. Hope the new version solves your problems. |

1 edit | Thank you, dsilvers.
I use the older version of CCleaner deliberately and never saw that message prior to installing Firefox 2.0.0.8--except when the browser really was open.
============================ Edit: CCleaner is no longer detecting Firefox as being open when it's not. So -- never mind. |

1 edit | You obviously use an older version of CCleaner for specific reasons but IMO, you should use older versions like that with great care. It will not be up to date with of all the changes other programs are going through (Firefox for eg.) and the possibilities of "issues" after cleaning will likely grow over time... |

| reply to onDvine I'd tend to agree with HA Nut , onDvine. And I know exactly why you're using an older version.
The new version of CCleaner was completely rewritten. If you want to continue to use the program, you should probably upgrade. Otherwise, uninstall it altogether.
Firefox has self-cleaning options, and it's not difficult to empty Windows temporary folders yourself. For basic and safe "Registry" cleaning, there's always MRU-Blaster from Javacool, a utility I have a very high opinion of regardless of whatever else you have installed.
But I'd recommend you go ahead and give the new version of CCleaner a try. You can always uninstall it and go back to the old version if it turns out you don't care for it-- and you may really like it. I have not personally tried it, however. |
