| [Connectivity] Unique Router Settings??
Are their any settings for the router that could improve the speed or DNS drops I am seeing so much of??
My router is apparently not being used by enough people to search FAQ's or old posts.
If this is an inappropriate place to post please direct to the right place. -- "If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by." - Sun Tsu (544 496 BC) |

1 edit | If you think that you are having DNS issues, you could always try using alternate DNS servers.
These, which some people distrust for various reasons:
Or these:
4.2.2.1 thru 4.2.2.6
You didn't post the make and model # of your router so it would be difficult to advise you which, if any configuration changes can be made.
One thing you may be able to check is if the routers MTU setting is set to 1500. |

1 edit | Full instructions are in that link Sir.
If you mean the mode of their functioning. The OpenDNS publicly accessible DNS servers are hard coded into your configuration so that the default DNS servers which are automatically assigned to your connection by the Comcast DHCP servers are not used, thereby circumventing any possible issues the they may have. |

I changed the DNS to openDNS and could not tell any difference in being able to view web pages. Still has long pauses and freezes on well known web sites.
Thanks for the suggestion. At some point I'll get desperate and use openDNS I guess -- "If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by." - Sun Tsu (544 496 BC) |

Wouldn't a packet sniffer on their end be enough to worry, or am I just being paranoid?
I ask because you use it. thanks -- "If you wait by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by." - Sun Tsu (544 496 BC) |
