Re: could it be the 20/20 tierThey can't even get 20/5 out to customers in some areas (yes, we have "competition") and you're dreaming of 100/100? Verizon needs to step up, so much for the "most advanced fiber-optic network" |

20/20? Nah.You guys still don't get it. To us geeks, FIOS is all about faster internet access.
To Verizon, FIOS includes internet access only because the market forces them to. To Verizon, FIOS has always meant one thing -- THE method to compete with the cable companies, ans grab a big piece of that proven cash cow - selling TV.
I'm guessing this is all about announcing some wizbang interactive/video/on-demand/yadda-yadda offering. |

Re: could it be the 20/20 tierI just checked if FiOS is available in my area in NY, and apparently the 20/20 package is available ($70/month, $60 for the first 6 months after first month which is free). I'm guessing this wasn't officially announced yet so that is what they are talking about. I doubt I'll be switching from Cablevision but it's cool to know it's an option. |

And in Hampton Roads, VA it will only be $742.99/mo (based on what they want for business 30/5). I so hate that the regions are priced so far apart. I mean, I could see a 20-30 difference but holy crap. Makes me kinda pissed too. It's not that they can't do it here, it's that they don't have any desire too because nothing "forces" them to do it. |

You are are a WINNER! And this is exactly why they are going about this the wrong way. Unfortunately, VZ needs to scrap the video crap, and 1) Focus on deployment and conversion of data and voice to fiber 2) SCRAP the video. 3) sell the copper network as you convert as a whole or as scrap. That should help to recoup some $$ and shut up idiot investors and analysts with their short sighted narrow minded BS. I've got my video service, Dish, Fios nor crapble nor dircrap can offer what I want, and thats NOT HD! I could care less about HD. No x play is ever going to be a part of what I choose. So put that pipe dream of corralling the sheep in to the pen that way. Note to VZ: DEPLOY! DEPLOY! DEPLOY! Bring on the fiber data, and get out of the way. |

Yeah, that's what I have. But the billing lady told me the only way I was able to get that was to "bundle" my phone service. I've had all kinds of problems with billing but whatever, they might actually have it correct this time. |

Re: 20/20? Nah.OK I was wrong. I guess this is an anti-DOCSIS 3.0 play. And at $65/month, they get enough revenue from it that they don't care about cannabolizing TV revenue. Or maybe they'll see to it that QoS on the internet access connection is lousy enough so that people will stop buy the TV channels from them. |

I could care less about HD. ... First, why would they scrap their TV service. It's had great reviews and probably the best DVR to DVR capabilities amongst most if not all providers for TV service. If you have Dish and like it, great. Their TV service won't hinder getting the Internet stuff moving and it's also helping fund and justify everything to investors. To put it simply: If they "scrap" tv service, expect slower deployment. Your HD comments are silly. HD is where it's going, it's getting too cheap to not go HD. I'd expect within five years everybody is producing HD content and all transmission in HD where people with older sets just handle down-converting it. One method is better than several, and it might as well be HD. |
