Looks like a typo. That "Fast" should've gone between the "not" and "for".

Not exactly. The reason why the rabbit lost was that he got so far ahead he decided to sit under a tree and relax, thinking he had plenty of time to finish the race because the tortoise was so far behind.

Well the hare fell asleep under the tree and the tortoise kept plodding on in the race and won it.

I did find your analogy amusing though and very accurate.
