| Doing my kitchen too
My kitchen is in progress along with 2 bathrooms. The fridge is in the dining room and we're doing ok with the one bathroom that was just redone.
Here's some pictures of the demo work and the roughs. Over the past few days, we had the drywall and floor installed. Cabinets and appliances will be next.
Those tiles on the wall were the original stainless steel tiles.
More pictures to follow.

| good demo job ... looks like you got down to the bare essentials. Haven't seen diagonal sub floor decking in a while, you get a stronger floor that way. To bad they don't build like that any more. -- Good judgement comes with experience...Experience comes after bad judgements |

| reply to jjoshua Rough is finished.
Tile is down. Cabinets are in. Counters are in.
I mounted the under-cabinet lights and placed the faucet and cooktop to see how they look. Next is the backspash and then the finish work.

| Looks nice. We are also looking at similar cabinet faces.
I wonder why you choose lighter grout on the floor? I have it in the bath and my dad has it in his kitchen. My bath is all ready showing the dirt. My dad had someone come and clean grout for a couple hundred. A couple months later he said it's all ready starting to look dirty. My kitchen has an ugly almost pink grout. A while ago I used a tooth brush with soap and water to clean it up. It did look better, but was considerable work rinsing and scrubbing. I even tried a rental carpet cleaner (really only used the toothbrush, sprayer and vacuum so as not to damage tiles with metal blade). The most useful part of it was the wet vac.
I can hardly wait to begin work on gutting my kitchen and getting rid of the pink grout and white/pink tile. They are pretty slipper when it rains / snows too. |

| reply to jjoshua your kitchen looks awesome, I especially like the counter tops. Is that tile or vinyl flooring, I can't tell the difference from the pic. Don't know how big the room is but a small island will look good too. How much did this face lift set you back? -- Good judgement comes with experience...Experience comes after bad judgements |

| reply to jjoshua The grout is a gray tint. I hope that it doesn't get too dirty.
The floor is tile.
The room is too small for an island. We have the seating area which we didn't have with the old kitchen. Actually, those two walls didn't have counters or cabinets before so we're almost doubling our work area and storage space.
Our contractor likes to finish the drywall and paint after the cabinets go in because it's less work for him. He's the pro.
The total cost including labor and new appliances is approximately $35k. |

The electrician is going to splice the tails to the wiring that goes to the transformers in the basement. |
