| huh? Snarky, cynical reportage without foundation.
Talking points are necessary in order to have an army of customer support reps (with varying levels of understanding of technical and policy issues) reliably and consistently state the company's policy.
If, in fact, the talking points are true, then that is a very good way to ensure that all customers receive the same message, thus reducing confusion.
I see nothing wrong with such clearly written policy answers to potential customer concerns. -- OSCAR-NOMINATED "Jesus Camp" costars man-lovin' meth-head Rev. Ted Haggard »www.jesuscampthemovie.com/ |

MooJohn join:2005-12-18 Milledgeville, GA | reply to koam The question: "Is Comcast throttling BitTorrrent?"
Their answer: "We do not block access to any applications, including BitTorrent."
That's not an answer and you know it. It's something you'd get from a car salesman or motivational speaker. Nobody ever said they were blocking. They are throttling and it has been proven, and they have yet to directly address that assertion.
Their tactic is to dodge the issue and spin their response, and to make sure all corporate drones repeat the same message.
You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
Note that I have no sympathy for people who boohoo that they get cut off for 600+ gigs of traffic over a residential connection. Don't try to give me that "but it's called unlimited" argument. I just want the company to at least admit what they're doing so consumers can make an informed choice. -- John M - Cranky network guy |

| reply to MooJohn The problem is that the reporting and rumors state that Comcast is monitoring exactly what individuals do online and are limiting that. The suggestion is that they are spying on their customers and limiting specific activities. If they are not doing that, then they should be sure to refute the rumors.
If they are limiting the overall level of usage of individual users because such heavy usage by one customer takes away from the performance of the bandwidth for other paying customers, they are tacitly saying that they do that in order to maintain a high quality of service for all. The media confusing that with individually monitoring exactly what activities each user is doing requires that they respond and give their employees a consistent message so that customers can learn what is happening. -- OSCAR-NOMINATED "Jesus Camp" costars man-lovin' meth-head Rev.
