I'm sure I would stand a better chance than anyone off the street, but I can't afford a gap in employment.
I also can't see how I would be any better off than anyone else hired today if there are more of us on the two year contract then there are retiring.

I dunno.

Does anyone think it may be better to do a less desirable job now just to get my foot in the door and be a regular employee and then be able to move to another position inside the company?

How does moving from one position to another like that happen anyway?
I always heard that if you can get anything to get your foot in the door...do it. Then you can apply for other jobs and transfer locations, positions....etc.

Is this true? Or has this maybe changed since SBC took over?
