[Network] automount NFS in Leopard?

Has anyone setup NFS automounting in Leopard? My prefs must not have been retained, as they are no longer mounting. And it looks like NetInfo is gone, so that might explain this.

My wife stores all her documents/etc on my NFS server, so I really need to get her access to the files (without me having to apple-k and mount it manually every time for her )

They got rid of NetInfo in 10.5? Good riddance.

Oh I completely agree! Very convoluted way of doing things. I'm wondering if I am supposed to just use something like fstab now? Or is there some other utility that replaced NetInfo?

Mentions "NetInfo functionality has been removed from Mac OS X entirely." but doesn't say what replaced it or how to do things that NetInfo provided.

Does Apple provide documentation between major releases when they remove something like this?

Thanks, that works, and automounts, great!

My only problem now is if I try to browse to the mount point, finder hangs and eventually it says there was a problem and a "disconnect" button pops up. :/

I can cd there in Terminal.app and it all works fine. Bug in Finder?

I tried the Directory Utility method on 2 Macs. On one (a MacBook), it worked like a charm. This is so much simpler than the old (Netinfo Manager) way. Then I tried it on the other machine (an iMac). Everything seemed ok, and the Verify said that the NFS server (my Linux box) seemed to be fine. But then when I clicked Apply, I did not end up with a mount. In fact, there was no Servers directory under /Network. Another difference is that in the successful case on the MacBook, there is a SHARED section in the sidebar with an All... under that. The All... acts as if it were /Network (it has Servers etc. under it). On the iMac there is no SHARED in the sidebar (unless I create the mount manually using Go->Connect to Server). I tried creating Servers manually under /Network, but it did not help. And when I restarted, Servers was gone! Any ideas on how to debug this?
Thanks.

For Open Directory it's been LDAP based for a while, since 10.3 at least. If you opened Directory Access, Netinfo would be listed first before AD or OD.

So how does one enable/disable root login access in 10.5? If I remember correctly, this was previously done through a menu pulldown in NetInfo.

Same way we used to do it... well, same way I used to do it:

sudo passwd root

I mount my USB drives on my AEBS by adding them to my Accounts > Login Items. I'm not sure if this will work or not with NFS...
