Re: Nice I don't think they use these phones because they don't want to upgrade. They use them because they don't want to downgrade. I think the bagphones are capable of putting out 3W while a handheld phone isn't even 1W. I know we used to be in a fringe coverage area and the bagphone was the only thing that worked. I'm sure there are still areas a bagphone would work and my little handheld wouldn't. In farming, time lost is money lost, so having a reliable cell phone is worth it. I'd be willing to bet alot of them also have a regular cordless cellular phone, too. When Nextel and Centennial put up towers in our area, we got away from the bagphones. We now get Sprint, Alltel, Centennial, AT&T, and Nextel coverage.
