Re: WiMAX - is this another ISDN

ISDN was quite nice in its time, when the phone company figured out how to install it residentially.

You don't need a base station for WiMAX, just a reciever.
Why not? I can think of a gazillion uses for it right now.
Have all my home wireless appliances accessable from 30 miles.
Video conferences with customers without going through an exchange.
Close to instant communications with friends and relatives.
The whole town where I live is only 15 miles across, so wimax just about covers it double over.

With what is moderate nourish your mighty desire; for neither will
We yield, nor shall you have all else as you wish.’
