For Open Directory it's been LDAP based for a while, since 10.3 at least. If you opened Directory Access, Netinfo would be listed first before AD or OD.

join:2001-10-20		 So how does one enable/disable root login access in 10.5? If I remember correctly, this was previously done through a menu pulldown in NetInfo.
