Re: Cartoon Network get rid of Bleach on AS?

said by DMWCincy:

My guess is that this is temporary. The AS during the week is playing through Bleach right now and guessing on where they are at right now they will finish the last shown episode will play the friday before a potential new Bleach. AS likes to do that from time to time...
There are not plans for anything beyond volume 8 supposed to set for release in 2008 on any anime related site, and it's not even mentioned on the VIZ site.

CN/AS needs at least 25 episodes in the can to be able to broadcast it. IF (and that's a big if) volume 8 is released, they need plans for quite a few more.....

IMHO: Bleach is set to reruns for a least a year.

While I'm happy with that to a point, (I REALLY hate the dub) it just sucks that this is where they run it to. If Viz IS canning it, that really sucks. because the story really only starts to get good at this point. The beginning is slow.

Correction to prior statements

I am going to correct myself.

Volume 7 of Bleach DVD was just released, this week. It is only up to episode 28 *there are only 3 episodes per DVD* I thought that there might be 4 or 5 -- stupid of me.

This means that VIZ's production department actually has up to episodes 50 already made, but doesn't want to flood the market with Season 2 while they are trying to get everyone to buy the box set of Season 1.

Again, this is silly marketing on their part. In Japan, if you take a series like NANA at the end of each show, they presented what was the latest merchandise for the show, CD's, Manga, DVDs, cosmetics, cell phone rings, tags, keychains...they had every DVD promoted on the show while the show was in production. While on AS we might see a advertisement for gametap, we don't see advertisements for Bleach on a Wii or XBox/Playstation or the Manga or the DVDs. It's a lost opportunity.

Even public television releases are advertised as the show airs.....oops, I forgot public television is for people who actually think.....uh, HBO et al, advertise that the show you just watched is available On Demand (and extra charge service that they benefit from).

You're spot on there - you would think companies would be trying to push more anime DVDs (if not just the ones for the show you're watching) during these shows. AS has no problem pushing it's lame-ass DVDs of "insert name of stupid 15 min show here" Aside from the re-re-redone Dragonball Z DVDs, I don't think I've seen ANY DVD promos for anime. You would think Viz, or whatever company, would want to have that type of advertisement, not only for DVDs, but for Manga on the series as well. "Like this? Check out this!" or whatnot. Use of the term "uncut" is sure to draw attention.
