| You only need a filter plugged in if there is something in it, so if nothing is plugged into the socket, then you dont need a filter. Best way to test is if you have an NTE5 (BT master socket) you can remove the 2 screws and carefully remove the front plate (there should be the extensions wired into this little plate your pull off) behind this is the BT test socket. plug in your adsl router to this.
