 [ADSL] ADSL microfilter problem

Hello All,

I would like to find out some information regarding how the circuit in my house registers if a socket has and active phone connection. I went to sleep Saturday and woke up on Sunday with my ADSL on the fritz. No storms occurred on Saturday night.

I have 5 phone sockets in my house each with a microfilter.
I unplugged all connections to all wall sockets. I then swapped my microfilter where my DSL router is plugged in and plugged it into the wall socket. No Luck I then took everything to another socket in the house and had no luck. I want to make sure that I can test it this way. So I would like to know if I still require a microfilter in every socket even though I do not have an active phone connection in that socket.

Otherwise I might as well buy 5 new filters.
Thanks Guys.

You only need a filter plugged in if there is something in it, so if nothing is plugged into the socket, then you dont need a filter.
Best way to test is if you have an NTE5 (BT master socket) you can remove the 2 screws and carefully remove the front plate (there should be the extensions wired into this little plate your pull off) behind this is the BT test socket. plug in your adsl router to this. If you still have no sync, then you have a faulty router/filter (but doubt 5!) or an ADSL fault.
