[CCNA] Subinterface on 871w (Advanced IP Services)

Guys,

I dont' know if I ever got an answer to this, but now that I'm running "advanced ip services" I still can't configure a subinterface on my 871w.

Is this even possible? I'm next in line to go in for my CCNA tomorrow and I'm building 3-story houses due to panic

Subinterfaces of what, the radio, switch ports, "WAN" port?

Re: [CCNA] Subinterface on 871w (Advanced IP Services)

My bad...

I'm trying to set a subinterface for "int Fa0." Int Fa4 on an 871w is the WAN port.

I'm trying to do this on my 2610 (IOS 12(3) ); whereas on the 2610 I can configure a subinterface, it won't accept the "encapsulation dot1q native 1" command.

Unlike the person who posted here recently, I was able to get an ip address (seen when doing a "sh ip int brief").

You dont configure sub-interfaces in the traditional sense as you would on a 2600 series.

The switch ports on an 871 are layer 2 only. You should be able to configure Fa0 as a trunk port to connect to your 2600 like a regular switch, and then assign the other 3 ports into a VLAN (like a regular switch), or setup a second VLAN interface like the existing VLAN 1 interface.

VLAN 1 is always the native VLAN in the Cisco world, so there should be no need to add that command, unless you are resetting it from another value.

Re: [CCNA] Subinterface on 871w (Advanced IP Services)

Thanks Tom...

I'm just leaving the 871w alone seeing it's not a requirement for 640-801. Instead, I'm feuding with this 2600 at the moment. I'm slapping an access port on one of the ports so I can have wireless so I can post the issues it's giving me...
