Living in California, that's a very viable scenario given earthquakes, and so having a maintained & functional network is key for disaster/safety planning.<br><br>...and of course, there's just the "Murphy's Law" syndrome. Cell & internet can go dead for less disastrous reasons (unexplained power outages come to mind), and having POTS avaliable for emergency use would again be a necessity.<br><br>A "sucks to be you" technology vision isn't a wonderful one to maintain when crap hits the fan.
