No kidding. Would love to have it in my area already.
Not that I don't know it's kind of a big job. It took government funding and help to create the original telephone infrastructure. Perhaps something similar would be called for in this case. |

Out here in the Boonies  this area is supposed to eventually get FiOS, But no idea of when, At least this area can't be sold off like Maine, As Barstow CA is too important for their West Coast to East Coast operations to sell off.

Installing FIOS is not just a matter of wiring up the area they also need to connect to the backbone.
I assume decision to deploy FIOS is a complex mix of business, engineering and manpower planning.

Be happy you do not live in New England: Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine. Assuming Verizon sale to FairPoint goes through we are all promised next generation DSL broadband over the next decade or so.
