| [Spam] stopping comcast sales calls?
Every week now I get at least one, sometimes two sales calls from comcast. I use their HSI, and they want to sell me their cable tv or phone service. I work night shift so they usually wake me up.
How do I get them to stop? I usually tell them to stop calling or i will cancel my service. They haven't called this week yet, but they may call tomorrow or friday. |

1 edit | reply to kd5loe The DoNotCall list will not work since you're a subscriber to their service and they "reserve the right" to call you because of that. However, if you tell them to take you off their list and they continue to call, it's a different story and they can be reported to the FTC and if found guilty, fined $11,000 (that's where it comes into play). The big question is if you unsubscribe from company X calling you, is it the same company calling you again? I'm sure Comcast has a lot of sales reps across the county pushing their services and unfortunately unsubscribing from one calling company doesn't make it so across the board (if that makes sense).
The best thing to do is call them back (or while on the phone) and tell them to take you off their list (most of the time the number they call from if you call it back, it will go through an automated prompt to remove you from their list).
Sure, it's a pain to do but it's effective as they stop calling (at least in my experience). Or, you can get a private phone number from PrivatePhone or GrandCentral, change all of the Comcast bills to that, and screen all of their calls (which might be most effective). Then you're not bothered and it always goes straight to voicemail. -- Submit phishing to phishtracker HostMySite.com - For your hosting needs |

| reply to kd5loe Maybe you should hear what they have to say. Perhaps they can offer you a good deal on triple play versus what you have now.
HSI without any other services is a bit pricey.
Here in my area you can get digital tv..phone..hsi and 2 premiums for 129.00 (current customers)
for 159.00 you can get everything they've got including all the above and 5 premiums..hdtv and DVR included as well.
I'm thinking about going with the latter one myself and giving their phone service a try. -- The Coyote captured the RR! Roadrunner Rick is now Comcastic! |

| reply to kd5loe When I use to work nights, before I went to sleep I'd turn the ringer off and the volume on the answering machine as low as it would go. Family and friends who might have an emergency and need to call me had my cell phone.
When you wake up, you check the caller id and the answering machine.
This is easier than getting them to stop calling you. I'm on the donotcall.gov list and if anything I actually get more calls now than I did two years ago. |

| reply to kd5loe Tell the person that you are not interested in the extra services, and tell them to please remove you from their marketing list. As long as you are polite about it, they usually do it. They tell me it takes three weeks to get to all their call centers, and I think I stopped getting the calls after about a month. |

Yes - don't say "take me OFF" the list... the correct thing to say is "put me ON your company-specific do not call list." |
