Are you sure? I just checked the 'Price increase - notifications' thread discussing new bandwidths and it starts out with Rocky saying

Premium is now allowed 200g/mth

1Mbps is enough to do ~250GB/month so 6Mbps should be enough to reach 1.5TB/month assuming you can find that much stuff to download and keep going at max speed 24/7. One request though if you're going to charge for overage: make the usage tool more accurate/informative! Before Teksavvy entered puberty and started to grow big time and change routers at regular intervals, I had sessions lasting a couple of months between power outages. Steve might remember. (Of course, he has now been rebranded TSI Steve after Rocky found a branding iron in the barn and decided to use it on all his employees). :-)

I have to say I am very impressed by you. While Cogeco decides to finally enforce their cap by disconnecting people instead of having a plan in place to give people options, you guys come up with a very fair option to allow Premium members to increase their cap without gouging them. Bravo!

After the 10 years we have been with Cogeco, so figure $5000 worth of Internet fees alone, never mind our cable TV, they just cut us off and offer no solutions. Talk about a poorly thought out business model.

You guys need to look at offering TV as well!!!

so long as the policy has not changed you would be fine. the policy has been to average 100gb over two months. Say over 3 months your usage is as follows:

20gb
130gb
90gb

for the first two months your average is 75gb/month, so you're ok.

for the last two months your average is 110gb/month, so you'd be charged for 10gb ($10) for that 130gb month only. the next month it will average again, and if you use below 110gb there will be no overage charge.

Well here's my attached jpg to show my commitment. Usenet is "it" for me - I don't even consider surfing and email a factor these days for useage - and personally dread those P2P things.

That 5 hr. window overnight may seem small but you can do quite a bit with it @5Mb. Thats a couple of DVD's, or a full season of a TV show DVDRip of 24 episodes - or even 8 of the new hi-res 720p.HDTV.x264 TV shows if you are so inclined.

Now of course if one were to do this every day it would really add up in a month - almost 300Gig I figure. Kinda worth staying up late for to click that unpause button on your download :D

Edit: Oh yes - trying to get the few low-usage people I know to switch too but just wish I knew more.

So long as you weren't a switch from Premium to unlimited for overage, you should be able to simply ask to have yourself switched. If you have a static IP you will need to have it changed but otherwise you should be easily changed-up!

Edit: Hmm.. not sure if there's a charge for changing the account... will check and write back if so.

This is, I think, the first company that I've ever seen that allows you to extend your base bandwidth for the same cost as the original order!

As an example, with ThePlanet, sure, you can get a server with 1500GB for under $100/mth, but if you want to double that bandwidth, tack on hundreds of extra dollars. Same with most hosting plans; you want to double your bandwidth, your price will probably go up to 5x the current rate.
