The All Things Mac forum encompasses a lot of stuff. Instead of one forum, how about: *Mac newbies and Windows switchers *Ipod Iphone Itunes *Mac experts *Mac help (non-expert) |

How is someone supposed to know whether their problem requires expert help or non-expert help. There will be a lot of repetition if this is implemented.
ATM is fine the way it is. |

1 edit | it seems like there is overwhelming objection from forum regulars, which is fine. my suggestion was based on the fact that I am a relative newcomer to the atm forum and can tell you from an outsiders point of view, the forum is extremely intimidating. most of the threads are either geared towards the advanced user or start out in beginners language and quickly end up in advanced language and topics. while i am an atm newcomer, I've used forums extensively and am an admin at another web forum. a beginner or switcher trying to learn will have a hard time following the threads (I know, I've tried). setting up a parallel forum for the non-advanced user will allow (IMHO) an easier learning experience for the newcomer.
I don't mind my suggestion being shot down, but I'd ask you to look at the forum, not from your eyes (since you already possess the knowledge), but from the eyes of someone showing up and trying to learn. I wonder how many people don't post because they are intimidated? newbie forums encourage people to learn (again, IMHO) |

| reply to haroldo There's nothing wrong with asking a newbie question, getting an answer that might fly right over your head and then asking for a clearer explanation. I've been in the ATM forum for a number of years now, and I don't think any of the regulars would have a problem with that.
I personally stick with ATM because it is all one forum. One forum for help, tech support, rumors, updates, general discussion, anything really. The other Mac forums are way too confusing with the number of subforums. It's too difficult to concentrate on each individual subforum.
