And the Google OS could greatly harm Symbian's profits.

I'll wait to see what the phones are like and how the early adopters rate the intrusion of ads, but if Google does anything right it is to NOT become offensive with their ads.
When I had my Treo the mobile Gmail app didn't even show ads. I don't know how they will change things up for this, but if I can stay on the much superior Verizon network, get a phone for a reasonable price and pay a reasonable fee to use it I will put up with a few ads.
A data plan with the V monster is $80 a month. If Goo can cut that down or out and NOT saturate me with ads then I will give it a try.
We need to wait for details of the plan, but Goo knows that people don't want to pay big money for ads. Look at their Premium version of Apps for your Domain. No ads and only $50 a year per user. When Goo charges the first thing they do is drop ads inside the service. That makes me think that something here is going to be free. Buy the phone, but the data plan is free. Free phone, reduced data plan cost. Or how about free phone, free data plan just pay for your voice service. |

COUNT TOWARD YOUR DATA AMOUNT AND MINUTES
so a page/app/call takes 10 seconds longer because of the adds....i bet you will be charged for those....so double charged...

Uh, you don't use minutes on a data plan and on an unlimited data plan you aren't charged for usage.
Aside from that Google currently makes Gmail and search as well as Docs, Calendar and Picasa available for mobile WITHOUT ads. If you have some proof that this will be different from that I am all ears.

Also everyone but sprint currently have data plan limits on the so called unlimited plans....which these adds will count towards.

right now i get a phone with 600 minutes..with that 600 minutes i can also grab stuff off the internet, download useful programs, my email, im's, ect......
now imagine google phone, checking your email you are hit with a few adds, getting im's from your friends a few more ads....ect ect....

A N D, I would find it HIGHLY unlikely that Sprint or Google or anyone else would let you have ANY smart phone without some type of minimal data plan. If you don't need it or can't afford it or don't want it you are not the target market. You are safe.
Never ceases to amaze me how people get so worked up about things that won't impact them. Step back and let those that want to see what this phone is and what it does have a look.
I can imagine a gPhone and I can imagine that Google is smarter than YOU and will know how to do this in a manner that doesn't urinate off the masses. |

you think that this has ZERO chance of creating a new TREND in the cell industry? if google pulls it off sucessfully with adds that the other carriers won't jump right in if google makes it profitable?? You dont think adds will pop up on all kinds of phones and services if google makes it a money maker??
why do you think verizon now has a wonderful Iphone clone.
BTW you can get a smartphone/PDA without a dataplan very easly it just uses minutes.

1. All current services that you can access on mobile except search.
2. Google Calendar.
3. Google Docs.
4. Picasa Web Albums
5. Blogger.
6. Google Finance.
7. Google Maps.
8. Google Patents.
9. Google Reader.
10. Google News.
11. Google SMS.
That's 11 right off the top of my head. Kind of shoots holes in your entire "continues to implement ADDS in everything they do" theory, but you won't see it that way.
Simple fact is that MANY (may be most) Google products don't have ads in them at all. They never have and they never will. Google doesn't NEED to put ads in everything. They pocketed north of $1,000,000,000 (thats BILLION) in the last quarter doing things just like they are.
Again, you hate Google. Fine. Not everyone does and some of us even find great value in what Google gives us for free or at minimal cost. I have 3 premium apps accounts with 15 users total and I also have the 20GB storage upgrade for my Picasa account. Every member of my family and an awful lot of my friends use Gmail for FREE. For less than $800 a year I am set with everything that I need. Exchange would cost me more than $3,000 a year. I'm pretty happy.
Google set me up for FREE with real solutions that helped me get my businesses going. OF COURSE I can't wait to see what they gPhone is like. You seem hell bent on stopping me. Don't. |

Wrong....and if you look at their financials where do you think they are making 99% of that money? Here let me quote their financial filing

If you read their comments and filings about direction where do you think they are heading?
